The Hamilton Cams 178/208 Towing Camshaft Combo is engineered for Cummins-powered daily drivers and tow rigs looking for improved efficiency, drivability, and lower exhaust gas temperatures. Featuring short duration and a wide lobe separation angle, this camshaft minimizes overlap to improve low-RPM response and fuel economy.

Ideal for trucks that tow heavy, operate at higher elevations, or run larger single turbochargers, this setup helps improve turbo spool-up while maintaining strong street manners and towing performance.

Installation Notes:

  • Zinc additive required (not included)
  • Proper piston-to-valve clearance must be verified during installation
  • Oversize head gasket or valve reliefs may be required if minimum clearances are not met

Clearance Requirements:

  • 1998.5–2002: Maximum .025" piston protrusion and minimum .038" valve face depth
  • 2003–2007 & 2013–2018: Maximum .018" piston protrusion and minimum .038" valve face depth
