The rear cylinders of the 6.7L Cummins can experience higher operating temperatures due to reduced coolant flow. This temperature increase can contribute to excessive pressure at the rear of the engine, increasing the risk of freeze plug or under-valve-cover plug failure.

The Fleece Coolant Bypass Kit incorporates a secondary thermostat that regulates additional coolant flow based on temperature rather than waiting for excessive pressure to develop.
